Keyboard Commands

Most keyboard commands work just like the official Chrome and Chromium browsers.

  • Ctrl-Alt-T opens a terminal
  • Ctrl-Alt-Del opens the task list
  • Ctrl-Alt-F1 switch between X and text only terminal. You can login with username chronos and password facepunch.
  • Ctrl-W closes the current window, and if you do this enough times the whole browser goes away and comes back, persumably restarting the browser process.
  • F12 Toggles Window Overview mode
  • Ctrl-Alt-L locks the screen
  • Ctrl-Alt-M enables the External Monitor
  • Print Screen is supposed to take a screenshot and save it to /home/chronos/{user}/Downloads/Screenshots/screenshot-YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS.png, it doesn't seem to however

To shut down the OS, press the power button momentarily.1)

You can also go to the terminal and type in:

sudo shutdown -h now

That will initiate an immediate shutdown.

Press F8 in ChromeOS to see complete list of keyboard commands (although they are not all currently supported)

1) Yes, this is intuitive. However, there is a current bug in ChromeOS that (upon restart) will ALWAYS show ”…Did not shut down correctly” - don't worry about it, pressing the power button is as good as it gets right now.
